FIVE STAR RECORDINGS | ||||||
FIVE STAR RECORDINGS is a label that came into existence in order to release the original concert recordings that were the source for the Richie Havens hit version of "Here Comes The Sun". Back in 1988, at Midem in Cannes, Marcia Wolfson, then Richie Havens' manager suggested that we release some of the Stormy Forest recordings. We worked on it for some time, and finally settled on the material that is contained in FS1001 RICHIE HAVENS: LIVE AT THE CELLAR DOOR and the SANTA MONICA AUDITORIUM. This recording is our most successful release to date, bar none. Over a decade later, while watching a re-run episode of Crime Story, we chanced upon a performance by ROTONDI of "Polka Changed My Life Today", and this led to the second release on Five Star. A few years later, working with Omega masters, in particular, Francis Bay Big Band recordings, we decided to add this and the Oscar Moore Omega recording to the titles released on Five Star. The latest addition to the catalog is a re-release of the Tampa party record by Billy Devroe featuring the Amy Winehouse look-alike on the goofy cover, entitled "Broad Minded". Currently, the following recordings are available on Five Star Recordings:
FS-1001 CD RICHIE HAVENS: LIVE AT THE CELLAR DOOR and the SANTA MONICA CIVIC AUDITORIUM
FS-1002 CD ROTONDI: POLKA CHANGED MY LIFE TODAY
FS-1003 CD Omega OSL-20 THE FRANCIS BAY BIG BAND: LATIN BEAT
FS-1004 CD Omega ST-7012 OSCAR MOORE: PRESENTING OSCAR MOORE
FS 1005 BILLY DEVROE: BROAD MINDED |
